For years, I have struggled to provide for my children and was facing financial ruin and homelessness...Since the very first meeting I had with Places For People I KNEW the gift that I had been blessed with and had real hope for the future again.

welcome back

it’s good to be home.

And that’s a feeling that everyone should have. That’s why we’re pleased to announce the return of an in-person run this year! The 50th running of the Highland Yard is an annual charity run benefiting Places for People in Haliburton County.  Places for People provides safe, affordable, and supportive housing for families and individuals at risk of homelessness in our community.

100% of the money raised at the Highland Yard goes toward supporting the community of Haliburton, with 90% of funds helping Places for People in lowering mortgage and maintenance costs and purchasing additional properties to continue to serve the community, and the remaining 10% supporting Rotaract Haliburton Highlands in community service initiatives.

After three years of holding the run virtually, we are so excited to be back in person! Last year, with the help of runners like you, we raised more than $20,000. Help us surpass this target by raising pledges and donations for your run and together we can Hit a Grand Slam Home Run for Housing in Haliburton County!

Online registration closes Saturday, August 5th at 2:30PM.

On-site registration is available on Saturday, August 5th from 4:30PM - 7:00PM and on race-day, Sunday, August 6th from 7:15AM - 8:30AM at the River Cone in Minden.

A Run For Everyone

2k

The 2k distance is one of our more popular runs, perfect for the whole family!

5k

The 5k loop is a classic Highland Yard run.

10k

Double the fun of the 5k loop, with a special surprise along the way. Keep an eye out along the way for our Heritage Marker at the 7.3k point along the route. This 7.3k marker is a nod to the original Heineken Yard race distance, which was run for the first time way back in 1971 from Camp Onondaga to the Rockcliffe in Minden!

SWAG

All registrants will receive special swag based on the run you register for. Runners in the 2k run will get a cotton t-shirt with the Highland Yard x Rotaract logo (view size chart for size selection at registration here) while runners in the 5k and 10k will get a moisture wicking technical t-shirt with a Highland Yard x Rotaract logo (view size chart for size selection during registration here).

Share your photos of you running with or using your SWAG in a fun way during your run with the #MYHYSWAG hashtag on social media or email us at info@highlandyard.ca

Growing up in the community, we have a friend whose family was supported by Places For People. Looking back, we can see firsthand the benefits of this agency.
